I bought a new tool: Gelli Plate

 Hi everyone, this is Betty, today I want to share with you my new purchase, a platform to print.

Let's start from the beginning. I've always been interested to new craft tecnique. I started from decoupage, tiles made as little houses,  than I tried with bijoux, pyrography, scrapbooking, I worked with rubber  (mousegummi), if you have a look to my old post you can see them, even if they are in Italian.

I saw this Gelli plate almost 6 years ago, but I didn't understand as well, than I saw a video where she printed pictures from a magazine, I said "wow, it's cool", and I wanted to buy, but I said "maybe not now because I didn't know where and how I should use I get with this plate"

Almost 6 years later, here we go, I bought it! In these 2 years I started with Junk journals. At the beginning I started to use scraps, and get space in my craft room, but I started to see in it a really artistic way to express itself.

I started with coffe dyed and to create some pages that seems old... I bought also digital paper, I downloaded them other from several sites when I started with scrapbooking and now I thought that it's really funny to find way to create my own pattern paper. Unfortunally with graphic softwere I'm hopeless, so time for gelli plate it comes.

I follow several channels and I saw really cool backgrounds made with this plate. I try it for very first time in video, and on YouTube you can watch what I got.

As always I made when I published video in italian, I add in blog details and notes that in video forgot or there was no time to say.

 what we need, Gelli plate, acrylic paint or oil paint or alchol paint (I tried only acrylic pain for the moment),copy paper (80gr) tissiu paper, than you can use stancils, stamps, pluriball, rings, squares, I used a empty roll of paper too, everything you want, as long as they are not objects that can scratch or damage the surface of the plate.

I made other attempts after the video, and I was wondering if I could print from a copy made with laser printer,  I think 1) too few different between white and black, there was a lot of kinds of grey 2) I think it works only with glossy paper, as the one in the magazine...😕 I'll try with other laser printed images and with photo paper and other kind of paper to see if I get image.

With magazine paper it works, and I tryed with big pictures, but in junk journal I need 2 pictures in A4 size, so I will try with smaller ones. Amazing and almost magic to see this image on plate and than to see on another sheet of paper. You can print as soon as you lift away magazine image or wait when is dry and put another color on and print background and image all at once. Yesterday I saw a girl who printed a background first and than immage from magazine, so there are two ways to get the same result but the way I show in my video is faster I think...

with this new update of the blog I cannot put pictures near, I wanted to have 2 pictures on each line... 

Anyway here some pictures I got from printing, I made other 2 but one of that was on an orange paper and you cannot see image so very difficult to have a picture, so you cannot find it here and another was an attempt to print twice the same picture, I'll keep them anyway to add other prints and splatter... 

I tried with stancils, I have really few to be true, I should try to make someone by myself with my ScanNcut, I used also pluriball, but  balls were not intact so I need to find other, but results is not bad.

I had to try other thing to use when I print, anyway I loved and I love this tool, I think is really funny and I'd like to be able to use graphic programs to make my own digital papers too, but don't ask too much Betty!

new start. my little purchase of seals and wax

 Hi everyone, today for me it's a new start, I decided to write in english and share with more people what I do, what I discover and I try and I experiment with new stuff and new tools.

My name is Betty, and today I want to share with you a little purchase I made from Aliexpress. on Youtube once I put a link from a shop that I loved and they send me a warning message saing that it was dangerous link. 

If you buy from Aliexpress you know that often you have to wait a loooooong time to reach your goodies, so I always looking for fast shipping and delivery, and this is not so easy in Aliexpress. 

I noticed in these weeks that some sellers have some products which they guarantee to receive them in 15 days, I found two great sellers.

I don't know if  link  work but I bought from this one and the name of his/her shop is Poesie DIY Craft Store. As soon as I get also wax sealing furnace I'll show you and I will try seals 

I took a box of wax, with several colours, a spoon and 2 seals one has handle other not, I've already had 2 seals stamp, one with the tree of life and the other with a lily. I want to collect other 😀

I got most of my order in 14 days and I love them. Here pictures of each one.

A nice thing is the spoon can be used by both right-handed and left-handed people, I'm a left handed 😃

carta fatta a mano, riciclo scampoli di carta

 

Ciao bentornati, oggi vi parlo di carta... Ma va? No stavolta intendo fogli di carta che creiamo noi, riciclando i pezzetti di carta. Io li faccio così, chissà magari a qualcuno può essere utile.

Inizio col farvi un elenco dei materiali necessari

• A parte la carta che può essere direttamente carta colorata o fotocopie che non vi servono più...
• dei recipienti di plastica, almeno due 
• un frullatore
• dei panni di stoffa 
• una spugna o comunque una di quelle spugne quadrate che tutti abbiamo in casa per togliere l'acqua in eccesso. 
• due telai identici di dimensioni, su uno ci sarà la rete sull'altro no.

Io la prima volta che decisi di creare dei fogli è stato per "disperazione" avevo un contenitore pieno di pezzi di carta che avevano una superficie massima di 4x4cm o delle fasce irregolari di carta che tenevo in attesa di tagliare forme piccole, e molte le ho consumate così infatti, ma come dicevo nei post precedenti, carta mono colore e cartoncino, non arricchiscono molto se li usi per decorare. Buttare via la carta? Si però peccato, è uno spreco... allora guardando "come è fatto" in tv ho visto il modo in cui creano i fogli fatti a mano e io così non potevo farla perché era un caos con tutta quell'acqua, poi mettere la stessa quantità di carta nell'acqua... No non si può, poi vidi altri modi, e questo è quello meno caotico, qualsiasi ricerca facciate questo è il metodo più usato. Non so se sia utile a qualcuno, visto che ci sono tanti post e tanti video a riguardo.

io tengo tutta la carta monocolore sottile e da 200 grammi in questo contenitore accanto al tavolo da lavoro e in un altro cesto il cartone e i pezzi di scarto di carta scrap.

Per la carta fatta a mano, uso solo carta monocolore con una grammatura massima di 200 gr.

Con l'aiuto di una distruggi documenti ho tagliato i pezzi più grandi, e poi a mano ho strappato o tagliato, con l'aiuto delle forbici, i pezzi piccoli per la distruggi documenti e grandi da frullare...

Una volta tagliata la carta mettiamola a bagno in abbondante acqua, almeno un paio di cm in più rispetto al livello della carta, e lasciamo a bagno 24 ore prima di frullare il tutto.

Quando decisi di fare i primi fogli avevo una busta di carta piena per ogni gruppo di colori. Quando catalogo la carta io la tengo divisa per colori: tutte le tonalità di bianco, tutte le tonalità sul rosa, i rossi e marroni, i blu, i neri, i verdi, quindi iniziai con il tagliare e mettere a bagno i blu, poi i rosa e il bianco, e infatti i primi fogli che vedevo scurissimi mischiai con il bianco per renderli più chiari.

Non avevo un frullatore o meglio ne avevo uno diverso e non frullava bene, vedi foto successiva.

in pratica sotto la sminuzzava quasi in modo accettabile mentre su restava grossa, così ho preso uno ad immersione, ed è stata tutta un'altra musica, io mi sono trovata bene con la seconda opzione. Nella foto successiva vi mostro i primi fogli che ho creato con questa carta frullata grossa, che per carità ha il suo perché ma a me piace più l'effetto ottenuto con il frullatore ad immersione.

guardate i fogli celeste in basso a destra... Ripeto non dispiace, dipende da come e per quale decorazione verrà utilizzato.

Io li uso strappati o fustellati, poi ci aggiungo timbrate o effetti passandoli attraverso le embossing folder...

Siccome la base per fare i fogli è la stessa che si usa per creare la carta pesta... Infatti vidi delle casette realizzate con bottiglie o con contenitori di vetro dove poi venivano messe le luci dopo, creati proprio con la pasta di carta, ecco magari al prossimo giro creo qualcosa del genere.

Mi piace sperimentare, e proprio per questo ho provato a mettere della pasta all'interno di stampi, e ho ottenuto delle cornici niente male.

Quella sopra è frullata più finemente la carta, mentre questa azzurra è sempre con la carta frullata più grossolanamente.

passando con una pasta argentata sopra col dito, leggero, in modo da dare risalto alla decorazione... ha il suo perché!

E questi sono un paio di esperimenti che ho fatto con la carta, diciamo senza creare un foglio, ho fatto la prova con dei Cabochon anche...

Come potete vedere, bisogna far risaltare la figura, ma non sono male.

Torniamo a noi e ai fogli. Eravamo rimasti al frullare la carta che io mi son trovata meglio con il frullatore ad immersione. Ok, a questo punto ho preso una vaschetta e ho messo dell'acqua fino a raggiungere il livello dei telai, io come ho detto anche nel video non ho un contenitore più grande e cerco di fare meno caos possibile, quindi ho preso i due telai e per creare un foglio si mette il telaio con la rete sotto con la rete rivolta verso di voi (cornice su cui è fissata in basso), e sopra mettete l'altro telaio identico che serve da forma per il foglio.

Io ho fatto fare dei telai da 8x8" ossia 20x20, e per creare un foglio ho notato che se è frullata finemente due cucchiai bastano, se è più grossa anche 3 perché si stende meno. 

Lo spazio a mia disposizione attorno alla cornice del telaio, nella vaschetta non è tantissimo, e quindi mi aiuto facendo roteare un po' il telaio nell'acqua senza far uscire la carta e sistemando con le mani.

Purtroppo se non si distribuisce bene la carta una volta asciutta noterete dei fori, che come ho detto in video per me vanno comunque bene, perché li uso per il Journal e per abbellire, quindi rovinati e disomogenei sono anche meglio.

Un esempio...

Questo sempre un foglio con la grana più grossa...

Una volta che avrete formato il foglio fate gocciolare da un angolo l'acqua in eccesso, farete meno fatica nel passaggio successivo. 

Togliete il telaio senza rete da sopra il foglio e se volete aggiungere delle fustellate, dei fiori, degli effetti, dei glitter potete farlo adesso, dopo poggiamo un panno di stoffa sopra e giriamo il foglio, attraverso la rete con una spugna o uno straccio più assorbente schiacciamo e strizziamo via l'acqua in eccesso attraverso la rete, più acqua togliete e prima asciugherà il vostro foglio.

Il giorno dopo io giro i fogli su un panno asciutto e così fino a completa asciugatura.

Asciugando i fogli cominciano a diventare ondulati e a cambiare colore. Quando l'acqua evapora il colore diventa notevolmente più chiaro.

Guardate la piccola finestra che giustamente è asciugata in pochissimo tempo, rispetto al foglio bagnato che differenza, o questa cornice che stavo per tirar fuori dallo stampo, è ancora più evidente nella foto successiva...

Potete mettere dei colori nella pasta di carta, ma ancora di più diventerà chiaro. 

Nel video io ho messo la carta di colore verde a secco nella carta perché il quantitativo di carta era poco, ma vi consiglio di mettere a bagno anche quella colorata e di tener conto se volete ottenere un colore che deve essere molto più scuro di come voli lo desiderate.

Prima di Natale ho fatto questi fogli e fatti il mercoledì sera sono stati completamente asciutti la domenica dopo, quindi circa 4 giorni, fatti in estate fogli creati nel pomeriggio, la mattina successiva ho girato i fogli e nel pomeriggio rigirati la sera ho finito di registrare il video, una 30ina di ore. Vero che fa un caldo assurdo.

Un consiglio che vi do, se avete la pelle delicata mettete i guanti, perché la carta tanto carina e bella e morbidosa rovina le mani in un modo assurdo. 

Fogli stesi ad asciugare, sul tavolo metto sempre una tovaglia di plastica, stessa cosa anche quando invecchio col tè o col caffè, e sul tavolo riesco a sistemare fino a 15 fogli la volta. Ho visto gente stenderla come si fa con il bucato, ma non mi fido molto...

Quando si possono sollevare che sono relativamente asciutti da entrambi i lati, tolgo il panno e li lascio sulla tovaglia e poche ore dopo sono asciutti del tutto, credo perché siccome si iniziano ad incurvare passa aria sopra e sotto e velocizza l'asciugatura.

per stirarli e schiacciarli un po' li metto in una pressa per fiori, alternativa una pila di libri sopra e via.
